Our Story

A Farm. A Flock.
A Philosophy.

The Founder

Kind to Sheep.
Wool, Not Waste.

My name is Juliet Pankhurst, and in 2022 I began a new chapter, acquiring a farm in the heart of Somerset with my partner.

As a vegetarian, I felt compelled to challenge the long-held perception of sheep as a by-product of the meat industry, and of their fleeces as something of little worth. At Sheepkind, we see things differently.

We believe that wool is not waste, but a remarkable natural material, and that every sheep, like every individual who wears our pieces, has its own character, presence, and needs.

"We believe luxury and compassion are not opposites.
At Sheepkind, they are inseparable."

Fred & Freda

The Hearts of the Farm

Fred

Rescued Romney

Fred nearly died when he first arrived, but he pulled through with vet care and a stubbornness that has never left him. He is known for getting his head stuck in buckets, and he once napped in the dog kennel. Steady, gentle and entirely himself, he is the heart of the farm.

Four-Horned Deaf Jacob Ewe

Freda was rejected at birth. When she fell in the river, Juliet had to jump in to save her. Four-horned, deaf and utterly spirited, she is the soul of Sheepkind — and her fleece is extraordinary.

Fred and Freda both survived hard beginnings. It is in their quiet resilience that the spirit of the farm was first recognised, and in their honour that Sheepkind takes its name. We feel deeply privileged to have them in our care, where they now live as they always should have — valued, protected, and at peace.

The Flock at SHEEPKIND

The sheep behind the wool

01

Rescue First

Every sheep in our flock was rescued from the meat industry. They live full, free lives on our farm. Their fleece is a gift freely given at shearing time — and shearing is essential for their health and comfort.

02

Always Handmade

Every garment and rug is made by hand in our workshop. Nothing is mass produced — just skilled hands and a deep respect for the material. Slow fashion is our fashion.

03

Truly Unique

Because each fleece is different, no two garments are ever alike. When you buy Sheepkind, you own something that will never be replicated — a piece shaped by the individual sheep who wore it first.

Our Provenance Pledge

Traceable to the
individual animal.

Each Sheepkind product comes with the story of the sheep who grew it — their name, their breed, their personality. Where possible, we share exactly which sheep your fleece came from.

This is not just a label — it's a relationship between you, the piece, and the animal still living safely on our farm.
