This is Simon - He photobombed me!

Simon – The Leader of the Flock

Simon is a calm, confident Romney and the natural leader of the flock. Every time we’ve moved fields, he’s been at the front, guiding the others. When he was away looking after his friend Ben, the rest of the flock broke into five chaotic groups — a true sign of how much they rely on him. When Simon returned, he called, and the entire flock followed.

Simon loves a tummy rub and will follow until he gets one. He really is a lovely boy.

My name is Juliet Pankhurst

We bought our farm in 2022. As a vegetarian it made sense to find a way to demonstrate the value of sheep and their fleeces. They and their fleeces are not something to throw away as worthless. They, like every customer are an individual, with unique energy and needs. We carefully match the donor sheep's fleece energy with the customers energy to maximise healing and health of that person. We link with other sheep rescuers to source fleeces which can support their important work also

Fred & Freda – The Heart of the Farm

Fred, a rescued Romney, nearly died when he first arrived, but he pulled through with vet care and his unshakable spirit. He’s known for getting stuck in buckets and once napped in the dog kennel. Freda is a four-horned, deaf Jacob ewe who was rejected at birth. She fell in the river, and I had to jump in to save her. They are the soul of Sheep Kind because they have both survived adversity in their short lives and we are blessed to have them in our care.

Tiny – Fred’s Partner in Crime

Also a Romney, Tiny is mischievous and often gets stuck in odd places — once, it was the weigh scales. He just blinked at me while I took it apart to free him. He and Fred seem to be in a club for sheep who get themselves stuck.

Conk – The Nose That Got Him Saved

Conk is a Jacob with a speckled white nose — the feature that got him rescued. While moving fields, he and his friends jumped into a reen. I swam through the muddy water in my underwear to save them. Conk now avoids water, but never strays far from his companions Moss, Buttons, and Tug.

William – The Bucket Bandit

A huge Jacob with an appetite to match. One winter, he got so excited for food that he ran into the back of my legs, launching me over the trough. I landed in the mud and feed — the flock just ate off me while I flailed. William? No regrets.

Kisses – The Jacob Juggernaut

Kisses is a large Jacob with attitude. During a move, he tried to make a run for Milverton. I managed to grab him, but when Mark approached, Kisses headbutted him in the stomach. I held on like a rodeo queen, and we got him back safely.

Norman – Norman No Tag

Norman loves exploring thorny bushes and brambles. He often ends up with shrubbery styled on his head. One day he tore out his ear tag — hence the nickname “Norman No Tag.” He carries on his adventures unbothered, tag-free and tangle-prone.

Clover – The Quiet One

Clover stays quietly with his close group of friends. He’s marked with a four-leaf clover shape on his side, which is how he got his name. Rescued from slaughter, he now enjoys peace and safety at the farm.

Zorro – The Gentle Giant

Zorro is a massive Jacob with mask-like facial markings, but he’s not bold — he’s shy. He hides behind others and lets them make the first move, but he’s gentle, thoughtful, and beloved by the flock.

Jules – The Herbalist

Jules loves to pick at the herbs in the pasture and shows the younger ones the best ones to eat. She's gentle and nurturing with the lambs around her and is happiest when she’s lying down chewing a tasty sweet leaf.

Samuel – The Three-Horned Wonder

Samuel once had four magnificent horns, but he’s now down to three — coming to us as a lamb , its a reminder of his tough start in life. He’s a striking Jacob who wears his past with quiet dignity.

Georgie Porgy – The Escapist

Georgie Porgy is a naughty Romney who broke through an electric fence with it caught around his neck. He bucked like a bronco until I managed to free him. He promptly returned to eating — as if nothing had happened.

The Fab 4 - John Paul George and Ringo
These four Jacob boys arrived after a man rang me up one day. He’d heard I’d rescued a few sheep and said, “If you don’t take them, they’re going to slaughter!” What could I say? We quickly agreed he would keep them safe while we fenced off a new field.

Once it was ready, the Fab 4 joined our growing rescued flock — each one full of character, charm, and cheek. They’ve been an inseparable gang ever since.

Ivan – The First to Trust

Ivan was the first sheep to trust me enough to come over, lie down beside me, and enjoy a cuddle.
Before that moment, the flock had only known fear — wary of people and unsure of kindness.

But Ivan’s quiet bravery changed everything.

By showing the others that humans could be safe, gentle, and loving, he helped the whole flock begin to heal.

Now, Ivan is not just a gentle soul — he’s a symbol of trust and transformation on our farm.

Eric Electric - Master of Mayhem
Eric is a striking, horned character with a talent for trouble. One day, he got himself tangled in the electric fencing, pulling it down completely. But that wasn’t enough for Eric — with the fence down, he proudly led the entire flock straight into the neighbour’s field.

There they were, munching happily on someone else’s grass while Eric stood in the middle like the king of chaos. He waited calmly to be rescued, utterly unbothered — as if it was all part of the plan.

Ben
Ben (on the left), is our gentle Valais Blacknose, once one half of a bonded pair with his beloved brother, Bill. The two fell ill with anaemia at the same time and were extremely unwell. Despite every effort, Bill was too weak to recover and was peacefully put to sleep by the vet.

Ben was left heartbroken. For a time, we weren’t sure he’d pull through either. But Simon, our calm leader, stayed close by, and then Ivan stepped in and then Ringo — each offering steady companionship. Slowly, with their love, the care of the flock, and a lot of human support, Ben began to heal.

He is stronger now — growing into his own again. Though he still misses Bill, we often find him gently resting by the hay, surrounded by the sheep who now look out for him. His courage and softness continue to inspire us every day.
